The Centre for Bible Engagement received the team from World Discovery Travel to the seminary earlier today. World Discovery Travel recently celebrated their 20th anniversary in bringing pilgrims to the Holyland, and as part of their celebration, they have donated a number of interesting replicas and teaching aids for the seminary. We will feature these in our upcoming posts soon. Today's visit is exceptionally special in many ways. It not only testifies to the long working relationship that we have built over the past decade, it also demonstrates their commitment to theological education. Today, World Discovery Travel presented to the seminary two special gifts: a very beautiful olive wood carving of the Lord's Supper and an icon depicting the Passion of Christ. The olive wood carving's attention to detail is truly amazing. It not only depicts the emotions that could be seen from the faces of the disciples of Christ, it also showcases them reclining in having their meal. This is certainly much closer to the culture and customs of its day compared to many paintings depicting the disciples sitting by a table having their meal.
We would like to express our deepest appreciation to World Discovery Travel for the beautiful gifts. What makes this even more memorable is that this is a time gift for us to reflect on Maundy Thursday which falls on tomorrow, March 29, 2018.
